Old Market is a Tree House twist on a historical style born in the town of Cottbus, Germany. Kottbussers were banned by the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law in 1877 as they utilized a variety of novel adjuncts. This beer represents a rare chance to experience a moment in beer history.

Old Market pours a deep golden color with slight haze under a dense white head. Old Market is brewed with barley, wheat, oats, Massachusetts blueberry honey, molasses, and Hallertau hops. We experience rich bready malt, mild sweetness, a balanced bitterness, lemon zest, and strong floral notes throughout each sip.

Pours clear, dark amber into a willi. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Golden syrup and molasses aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel and golden syrup upfront turning to earthy multigrain sourdough in the dry, medium length finish.

Pours a lightly hazy, copper-gold, with smallish head. Aroma is bread, cracker, some pine, grass. Flavors follow, with some light sweetness. Clean, crisp mouthfeel.

Charlton draught, 11/4/24. Indeed a slightly hazy, deep bronze-copper. Smaller, off-white head. Honey, dough, light pepper, mild citrus and gentle fruit. Clean. Not overly aromatic or distinctive. Very biscuity/bready. And so it goes in the flavor. Orange blossom honey, mild breadiness and good acidity from the yeast. I'm not sure I've had more than 1-2 kotbussers, but this is a yeast and grain-forward, clean beer. Per TH, it's malty and well-attenuated. Lingering varied grains and moderate acidity. Interesting.
