In the hiking world, a cairn is often a trail marker along the path, or an indicator of a summit; they guide trampers on the trails to the top of a mountain. Here at Tree House we believe it is not always about the destination, but the journey itself. This series showcases localized malts throughout the Northeast, and each iteration is single hopped with a different American hop.
Cairn Series – Mount Marcy utilizes pilsner from Hudson Valley Malt, and Cascade hops from the Pacific Northwest. Pouring a bright golden color, we find beautifully balanced notes of biscuit, cracker, honey, lemon citrus, and green tea. It is lightly bodied, smooth, and crisp with a light mineral presence. This beer is very delicate and highly drinkable.

Can pour courtesy of Chalumeaux--thanks, TJ! Clear bright yellow with light sparkle, ring of head and trace lacing. Aroma is strong biscuit and bread along with honey and floral. Taste is strong Pilsner malt, mild citrus, biscuit and cracker. Smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and dry finish as taste.

16 oz. can. Thanks to TJ or Clark. Aroma is light cracker malt with a bold earthy hop that dominates the cracker. Flavor follows. Has a grainy texture which I kind of enjoy. Bitterness is earthy and cooking herb like. This is pretty good.

Charlton draught, 8/29/24. Clear, copper-tinged brass. Small, white head. Herbaceous with just a soft hint of wet pine. Can't get at the malt, but perhaps it's a bit bready and biscuity. Kind of an earthy, mossy thing going on. In the mouth there is an almost juicy character as unripe stone fruit, nutty, biscuity, almost peanut-tinged malts combine with a lush, herbs-and-gentle-pine flavor. Crisp, dry, bready, malty finish. Clean and unique.

Pours a lightly hazy, pale golden yellow, with smallish head. Aroma is citrus, cracker, some mineral spice, grass. Flavors follow, with biscuit and even a touch of pepper. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. Moderate bitterness in the finish.
