The prominent, elegant acidity of the gooseberry is showcased in Schramm’s Patience. On the nose, fresh ripe citrus, kiwi, pineapple and beeswax come together with the more subtle floral notes of orange blossom honey. On the palate, flavors of yellow fruit compote balance the gooseberry’s pronounced tartness with lingering pineapple, grape and Shiro plum.

375 ml bottle shared by Adam! Natch #1…. Aroma is soft honey. Flavor has a soft acidic hint under the honey. Acid from the berry makes it different.

Batch 1, 2020, 375mL bottle shared by Adam Chandler on 8/3/24. Clear amber. Tart, vegetal, floral, acidic but nice. Tart and juicy. Acidic, juicy, tart, sweet, rich and balanced. Sweet, tart, interesting stuff. Juicy. Doesn't quite translate.

Apples, grapes, pineapples, and honey. Lots of fun flavors for gooseberries, still haven't had one! Feels a bit muted compared to batch 2 but it's also been a while (for me and for the mead).

Bottle pour at Schramm's, pours a clear golden. Aroma brings out decadent gooseberries and wildflower honey. Flavour reveals a lovely, gently tart gooseberry jamminess, and some treacly honey nectar. Complex as hell. Just excellent.
