Sisu lager is inspired by the Finnish Sahti style of beer. In Finland, they have a concept called Sisu, which roughly translates to “strength of will, determination, and perseverance” as well as sustained courage in the face of adversity. We resonated with Sisu and its similarity to our core value of “Hustle Harder”. The visual symbol of Sisu is showcased on this beer’s label, and the concept can be felt and embodied with every sip of this special 13th-anniversary brew.

Brewery draught, 7/29/24. Chill-hazed bronze-maize. Small, white head, slowly clumps edges. Is that juniper? I guess. It's tart and/or acidic. Some biscuity-grains, maybe lightly woody. Rustic funk. Oh yeah that's softer and maltier than expected with a round, bright, juniper-like playfulness free from its usual astringency. Doughy, soft malts seem to-style and there's a funky undercurrent. Lightly tart but very malty. Juicy almost.

Draft at anniversary party with half dozen oysters. Amber golden touch to tell in a stein. Nose is banana bread and some herbal notes. Tastes of same sweet banana bread, light juniper, some steel, fruit punch. Like most American sahti’s not truly authentic but this grabs the character and infuses with cleanliness of a lager. Nice take.
