Gravity dispense (bag-in-box) @ GBBF 2016, [ Great British Beer Festival 2016 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Rough Old Wife Tasty Old Wife ].ABV: 6.9%. Clear medium orange colour with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy apple, tart apple, leather, tannis, alcohol - whisky - light peat - wood. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a long duration, buzzy, alcohol - whisky, apple, wood - peat, sweet apple. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20160809] 7-2-7-3-15

GBBF 2016 (notes say THIRSTY OLD WIFE) ... amber .. thin white lacing .. dry tart almost sour apple nose .. balsamic appple .. long sharp finish

Sampled @ GBBF day 1. Clear golden color, no head. Smell and taste overripe apples, a hint of sweet fruity jam, apple and apricot jam, lightly sugar. Moderate to medium dry finish. Decent.

Gbbf. Fast klare dunkel goldene Farbe. Geruch nach reifen Äpfeln, leicht säuerlich trocken. Geschmack nach reifen Äpfeln, holzig, bourbon, interessant.

Big thanks to sebletitje for sharing this cool cider with me. It pours out with a clear pale gold looking body. The aroma offers up sweetened green apple and apple skin as well as an earthy basement sort of note. The taste is pretty rich and complex and starts with straight up sweetened ripe green apple wedges along with green apple tartness around the edges and then a modest complimentary barrel sensation that is on the vinegar side. Yummy stuff. I love how the slight sour vinegar like note plays against the larger sweet rich apple goodness. Are there other soured ciders out there? Maybe this one wasn’t intended to be this way but what I’m getting is really nice.

20L draft box @ Brussels British Embassy Jubilee garden party. Thanks Cécile. Holy hell cider in Islay, this cider rocks!!!. Doré trouble laissant un léger pétillant à la surface. Arôme est fruité pomme avec ce léger bouquet de barrique et une fine pointe d’aigreur, le tout conserve ce profile de fruits pressés. En bouche, le mariage parfait entre le cidre et le profile de Islay laissant donc ample place à la pomme qui est accompagnée par ce profile subtile de tourbe. Je note une pointe épicée, sec et ce fini aigre pour un pétillant modéré, le tout est balancé par ce juste murissage en barrique. Un régal, se boit facilement et très complexe, une bonne découverte dans le style des cidres.
