Draught @ Ballast Point Little Italy, San Diego, CA
Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee, cocoa and hops. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and hoppy with some grass and hints of coffee and licorice. Finish is smooth and slightly roasty with some hops and grass. Okay black IPA.

Keg at the Ballast Point taproom - San Diego. Pours deep brown with a foamy beige head. Good balance, some toasty bread, light mocha, dirt. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with soft roast, more bread, a bit of oily pine, baking cocoa. Good stuff.

Keg at BP Little Italy, 12/11/14 . Dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is bitter roast, earthy hops, light charr, pine needles, red berry snappage. Taste comprises earthy hops, bitter tropical fruit infusion, light smoke, hint of cocoa, pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a bitter hop wash. Solid CDA.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Orange glints at the bottom edge. Hoppy aroma. Med body. Flavor is sort of chocolate and dark malt. Decently bitter. Nice for the style.

Draft. From notes. Chocolate with a good dose of floral hops. Very interesting combination. I’ll be going back for seconds on this one.
