Bottle. Nose is rich chocolate, dark fruit, lots of blackberry, plum. Taste follows, milk chocolate, fruit, plums, prunes, raisin, leading to a more bitter, dark chocolate, slightly sour finish. As it opens more ash, earth and toast notes become apparent. It's an excellent chocolate stout, with a lot going on.

Bottle, picked up at the brewery. Nearly black. Foamy ring of dark tan head. Light lacing. Slightly leggy. Good looking beer. Nose has dense, dark vine fruits. Notes of prune and dates. Cocoa. Dark, nutty chocolate. Ashy, earthy, woody malts. Taste has a dark chocolate sweetness, but is mostly, vinous and earthy, woody, dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is similarly earthy and robust. Fine prickle of carbonation. Long, earthy bitterness to finish.
