I’m pretty sure this is a bottle imported in the 2015 Halloween season. A dark black with a thick beige head. It’s got a really good roasty doughy chocolate bun aroma. Medium bodied, it’s got a raspy carbonation and a rich roasty chocolate with nutty notes. A good fall brew with a Halloween name so a nice alternative to spicy pumpkin ales.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, very fast-dying tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, pumpkin, squash, nuts, earth, pit fruits, prunes and a bit of spices. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty and earthy malts up front with a good dose of coffee and prunes right behind with little else aside from the slightest bit of hops. Aftertaste shows some squash and a faint note of spices and a bit of the sugars. Overall, a fairly watery imperial porter with not as much complexity as a standard porter, but showing a touch more alcohol. Decent to try, but I was expecting more from the brewery and I wouldn’t have brought this back home if I knew it would turn out like this. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Made in Oregon in Portland, Oregon (PDX Airport, Terminal D) on 28-September-2013 for US$5.49 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the country, two days before halloween on 29-October-2013.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. 8.0% Pours dark brown/black with a slight beige head. Aroma of veg and treacle. And liquorice. Med + body. Flavor is treacle and liquorice with hints of chocolate. I think there’s more in this, but it’s hard to figure it out. Not the common porter. Finishes more dry than not.

Tap at Fifth Quadrant (NOL) - 07/11/12 @8.1% ABV. Mid black in appearance with a thin tan head. Nose comprises dark roast malts, chocolate, touch of coffee. Tastes of dark malts, aniseed, molasses, liqourice, sweet dark sugars. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a sweet and roasty finish. Decent enough drop.

Bottle. Black with thick foamy head. Light aroma with sweet malty notes and a bit of toffee. Full mouth feel with toffee, molasses and roast notes. Lasting malt finish.
