Cask, pint at the Queen Vic to celebrate 15 years of my former local, Cask Pub & Kitchen. It pours clear amber - brown with a decent frothy off-white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, woody, toasted nut, toffee, caramel, baked goods, brown bread, fruit pie crust and some toasty brown sugars. The taste is a dry, bitter - sweet character, firm bitterness which lingers, woody, resin, touch of tannin, toffee, toasted brown bread, nutty, hint of spice, leafy and some dull coffee beans character with a drying, woody finale. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not big and brash, but restrained and balanced. A solid bitter.
