On tap at the Creekers Tap, Faversham on 30th April 2022. Impenetrably black with tan foam and spot lacing. Rich roasty aroma with dark chocolate and coffee. Intensely roasty in-mouth with spiciness and a touch of woodsmoke. A lingering sweet roast malt finish with peppery spices. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal cream head. There’s nuts in the aroma, plus (believe it or not) yeasty cheese ! In the mouth the dominant flavour changes pretty rapidly. From dark fruits to peanut butter to chocolate. There’s malts and liquorice to contend with as well. It all leads to a chewy finish. A cecent enough beer – but it doesn’t really have much “stoutyness”.
