Deep purple coloured body with a thinnish tan head that fades quickly and has a slight opacity towards the top, perhaps around twenty per cent. Aroma of sour, black tea (english breakfast), light malt, some subtle yeast and bread with a bit more tart berries, but a light grassiness towards the end and fairly robust, considering the style. Light-bodied; Sharp tart and sligtly soured blackberry notes with a little stawberry sweetness pouring in along with a black, roasted tea flavour that hits the complexity and english breakfast notes with some complexity from malt and a little yeast bite, all ending with some smooth sweetness. Aftertaste shows a fairly nice blend of fresh blackberry fruits with some light roasted black tea flavours, but underneath all of this is some softer malts, a dry floral and herbal finish with some plentiful sweetness throughout. Overall, a robust, relativeliy elegant, yet easyish-drinking beer that shows both blackberriers and roasted black tea flavours nicely, all balanced nicely with a smooth malt note and some yeastie/bready notes that come through at the very end. Good to sample, and while not one of my favourite new belgium beers, this wasn't so bad and pretty nice in the long run. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 02-November-2020 for US$4,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 09-February-2021.
