A collaboration with Against The Grain, of Louisville Kentucky. A full bodied oatmeal stout, featuring a complex malt bill and smooth mouthfeel. Fragrant and spicy stem and whole ginger were added throughout the brew along with Orange zest and dried Orange peel . Large doses of earthy European and Citrus like US hops were used in hop back and whirlpool to compliment and accentuate the adjuncts. Deeply spicy, fruity and deliciously refreshing.

Opaque black, thick beige head. malty chocolate aroma with some spicy hints and a bit of bitter citrus. Bitter orange and dark chocolate in the flavour and you get a bit of the ginger around the edges of it so that it's not dominating it but just enhancing it by adding something different and giving something to what would otherwise be a good but fairly unremarkable dry, malty citrus aftertaste, A really nice dark, bitter orange beer and the ginger really adds something to it.

Keg at the London Craft beer festival 03/08/2018. An opaque black coloured pour with a a loose tan head. Aroma is spicy woody ginger, funk, little rustic dungy thing. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, brandy snap sugars, grapefruit, ginger, brown sugars. Palate is semi sweet, light twang, moderate carbonation, oily. Citrus oils. Interesting.

Can at MS HW, 28/07/18. Black with a solid tan head. Nose is chocolate coated ginger peel, chocolate biscuit, light spice, dried fruits. Taste comprises chocolate coated ginger snap biscuits, dark malts, brown sugars, mellow roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough offering bearing in mind it contains ginger!

Can from Cork & Cask. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of ginger, ash and crystallised orange. Flavour of chocolate orange and tangy citrus. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This tastes like the beer equivalent of the strawberry chocolate Quality Street - it’s a bit weird and artificial tasting.

Can. Bier Huis, Ossett. Dark, chocolate brown. Lasting, sticky, dense, tan foam. Nose has chocolate malts. Hint of lemony citrus. A little woody and earthy. Taste is a little sweet, with some earthy bitterness. Thin mouthfeel. Foamy carbonation. Finish has a dirty, earthy, burnt bitterness. Wow. No orange or ginger in here. Just a pretty bitter, mucky, earthy stout. Doesn’t work at all.
