The spark of inspiration for this dark and delightful beer are the original East India Porters of the 1850s, traditionally brewed to keep the lower army ranks happy while the officers got the Pale!

Cask (handpump) @ MBCF17 [ Manchester Beer & Cider Festival 2017 ] Manchester Central Convention Complex, Windmill Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, England M2 3GX. [ As St. Austell Bombay Steamer East India Porter ].Clear dark brown colour with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, dark malt, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops, licorice notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, dark malt, roasted, hoppy, fruity hops, citrus. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Manchester Beer Festival 2017. Extremely dark reddish-brown with a small head. It’s very light roasted with its malts, but they do get a little more stated in its aftertaste. Its nose is similar but with a sweetness.

Cask@Charlies Bar, Copenhagen - black pour with nice creamy beige head. Roasted and medium initial sweet malty with some nice bitter dark chocolate notes, dark malts, grassy hoppy backing, bitter roasted finish.
