Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a decent looking dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light stringy lacing glossing along the glass.
The smell had a nice roasty to sweet nutty to caramel maltiness backed up by a light toffee.
The taste was mainly sweet with a decent roasty nutty flavoring leading to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good brown ale well worthy of having again.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Hazy Dark amber with a big frothy beige head. Aroma of citric, floral and piney hops, malt and a caramel note. Sweetish malt flavor, slightly caramelly, a bit biscuity, with some citric and piney hops, a toasty note and a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Not really a Brown Ale, but a pleasant beer nonetheless.

Multiple samples @ Empire Brew Fest. Hazy brown color with a thick off white head. Nose is fruity hops and roasted barley. Flavor had roasted malts displaying the nutty and caramel flavors. The bitterness from the hops really shines in the finish. Citrus and line pine notes. Medium body with a nice clean finish. A nice hop forward brown ale.

Bottle from Paula. Pours dark ruddy amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma seems citrus hop. Med body. Flavor is that lightly roasted malt common to "brown"s, but there is a very strong amount of hop bitter. Seems mostly citrus. Surprisingly tasty brown. New style: Brown IPA

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a deep amber with an orange hue and a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced. Aroma was pine hops with a strong combination of earthy grains and a bit of a toast note. Flavor was similar with a lot of earthy malts and toast with a bit of pine in the finish. Didn’t do much for me.
