50cl swing top bottle pours with a clear amber to gold body that supports . . . well, there’s really no head at all. The modest aroma has sweet malts, sweet red apples and sweet cherry notes. Hmm. The taste delivers, based on the nose I’m guessing sweetness, sweet malts as well as some caramel malts. To midway fruity esters surface and nearly take over with red apple and cherry notes. None of this is working too well for me.

Bottle from Trader Joes. A decent amber ale in fancy packaging. Dry malt flavor, and very little aroma, some grain, but not much going on in that area. What this beer does have is palate, it is seems a heavier than others of the style.

500 ml bottle from Trader Joe’s Bakersfield. Nose is sweet, caramel, and a light floral note with a very light sprinkling of nuttiness. Clear copper amber with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter on top of moderate sweetness and some nuts and caramel malt. Decent for an amber ale.

Somewhat rich caramel nose ringed with sweet cherries. Hazy copper, thin head. Malty cherry flavor that gains intensity. Thin body. Decent.

Pours hazy mahogany into a tulip. Off-white conglomerate head with medium retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Sour pit fruit aromas. Thick with sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning to stale roasted nuts in the lasting earthy finish.

Half liter bottle from Trader Joe’s Glen Allen, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a large fizzy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toasted malts and stone fruits. The taste is caramel, toasted malts, stone fruits, candied citrus and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Interesting.

500 ml ceramic flip-top bottle. Bright amber orange color. Smal bubbly white head. Soft grainy toasted malt aroma with some citrus hops. Sweet toasted malt flavor with subtle hints of cinnamon and vanilla. Light body and thin mouthfeel. Not much depth or complexity. Brief cloying hop finish.

500ml flip-top bottle. Glowing, filtered orange-amber. Creamy, frothy head off-white head. The aroma isn’t so impressive, a little bit of garbage action. Medium bodied, relatively doughy, fluffy mouthfeel. Sub-par overall, loses points for being another fraudulent Italian beer. Drinkable, but has some noticeable off-flavors, probably not one to sit on, despite the bottle claiming it’s good for another year. I’d never buy this again.

Trader Joe’s, DC 500ml ($3.50): Pours a nice copper colour with a serious head. Aroma is actually not too bad either, but it smells kind of like cheap lager after the initial nice smells coming out. Unfortunately, the taste drops the ball. It is just bland. It is kind of like what I would expect from a third rate American microbrew amber: uninspired and unperfected. Watery, metallic, and with some weak malts and even weaker hops. This is really meh. Seeing as this was from TJ’s, I wasn’t expecting much, but this managed to dash my already low expectations.

Bottle. Copper beer with a dark creamn colored head. Toasted malt and light citrus aroma. Malt and light mineral flavor with light citrus. Medium bodied. Mineral and malt lingers.
