500ml bottle bought from the Offie, Leicester, and drunk at home. Dark brown, opaque with a thin khaki head. Scent of plum and raisin with notes of dark chocolate and ash. Bitterness to the taste, with some sweetness mid-sip disappearing and into a slight acrid finish with chocolate and more plum notes. Oily body, medium carbonation. Not overly keen but it's drinkable

Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport. Served too cold so a re-rate may be required. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a generous beige head and good lacing. Plums and malts in the nose with just a hint of coffee. Texture is rather watery with low carbonation. In the mouth, dark fruits predominate, with traces of cocoa, malts and fag-ash (!). Rounded off with a fruity finish. A reasonable beer, but too much fruit and not enough porter !

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, deep ruby red. Film and ring of dense, beige head. Nose has light roast malts. Hint of coffee bean. Some fruit. Some bonfire ash. Taste is a little sweet with an ashy, stone fruit dryness. Light to medium body. Fairly smooth. Fruity, ashy finish. Nice porter.
