5oz sample. Opaque black-brown. with a steady beige head. Medium bodied, creamy, pretty true to style. Light fruity pungency. Pretty enjoyable, a touch too mellow with the carbonation. OK.

On draught at the brewpub. This beer is a dark brownish-black color with ruby around the edges, and a medium off-white head that lasts awhile. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Mild roasted malt and chocolate in the nose. Medium, smooth body with a subtle malt sweetness and notes of cocoa and roasted coffee. The finish is a little flat with a roasted malt aftertaste. Barely average overall.

tap at the brewpub - Pours near black with an aroma of roast malt and lactose. It has a sweet and milky flavor that carries right into a fairly sweet finish. There’s a light to medium body and in my opinion needs more body. There are some good flavors there, but it’s a little watery too.

A deep dark stout with a thick resilient moka head. A sweet fruity stout with buttery notes. In mouth, a rather light stout, buttery, oily and on the cloying side. On tap at brewpub, 24 Jan. 2009.
