A lightly hazed golden DIPA with a very thin off white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with loads of resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, alcohol warmth and reminiscent of California. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with loads of resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, treacle, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. On tap at Wellington Gastropub.

(473ml can, ~1 month old) Pours hazy pale orange with a good sized white head. Aroma is pretty bright and citrusy with grapefruit peel and pith, fresh pine, a bit earthy, light pale malt sweetness. Palate is equally grapefruit dominated with peel and a bit of flesh, grassy, fresh pine, earth. Light to moderate sweet pale malt, caramel hints. Moderately high pith and pine bitterness in the finish. Fullish in body with moderate carb. This is a pretty big beer but with a little bit of age it isn’t overpowering. The citrus/pine axis is strong here, I think on balance I preferred the layered tropical fruit of the ’14 version but this is really good.

Can from the brewery. Hazy deep gold with a generous long lasting off white head that laces well. Nose is citrus (primarily orange peel with grapefruit in the background), pine and grass with a good dose of toffee. Moderate+ bitterness with just a light honey sweetness in support along with some pepper and a definite dankness. Alcohol makes its presence known but stays under control. Mouth is medium with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. 8+/4+/8-/4-. Great collab.
