Meaning “blood of the oak,” Sang du Chêne features sour strong blond and triple ales aged in three large format oak vessels: foudres, puncheons, and hogsheads. The oak influences provide flavors of toasted sugars, vanilla, and spice, complemented by the bright acidity and fruity character of the beer.

Draught @ Sori Taproom, Helsinki. Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of oak, wood, tart fruits, sour berries, vinegar and vanilla. Taste is sweetish, heavy and sour with some vinegar, wood, oak, tart berries and Belgian yeastiness. Finish is sweet, oaky and heavy with some sourish berries, tart fruits and vinegar. Okay, quite sour and complex.

On tap. Pours a clear watery mahogany with light head. Aromas of dried berries, old oak, and reisling. Flavors follow same. A little salty. Clean. Nicely constructed but not original. Expecting more for Cascade!

Light amber color. Lots of passion fruit, oak and sour nose. Typical cascade yeast, with typical sourness, tons of passion fruit with a touch of sweetness. Everything is well balanced but also predictable. Lingering tropical fruit finish.
