(On Tap) Very dark brown with big but short-lived beige head. Aroma of treacle or molasses with hints of smoke, pine and tea. Medium body with light carbonation. Taste is a light version of a rich dark beer. Some dark toffee sweetness, hints of nuts. Very little bitterness. Easy drinking dark beer - suits the climate.

Medium brown. Thin head. Fizzy, light molasses and little else. Pretty unprofessional. Ten years later and the beer still sucks.

Visited Taberna de la Muralla on 28/12/2014 during a visit to Havana, this beer was the third of the beers on offer which comprised ’light, dark and black’. Served in a dimpled pint mug, beer was almost black with an off white head. Roasted aroma with hint of chocolate, medium body, texture a little on the thin side. Slight sweetness to finish, with low level of bitterness. Not quite as good as the ’dark’ and many better beers in the world, however by Cuban standards a very good beer!
