On tap @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours a clear and vivid amber color with a little white head. Aroma is powerful and rich, vanilla, oak, booze soaked fruits (apple, peach), caramel, good! Flavour is very sweet with a little bitter end, caramel, vanilla, alcol. Full body, medium carbonation. Very good barley wine!

Craft Islington. Keg. Almost clear gold - amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is quite light and smooth, decent fine carbonation, everything is wonderfully light! Smooth sweetish malts, mild caramel cream. Touch of vanilla. The bourbon sits comfortably in the very nice malt background and retains most of the bourbon character but a much mellower intensity. A little fruits in there and mild spice. Finishes smooth. An elegant and sophisticated barleywine and dangerously drinkable. Excellent.

On keg at Cloisters. Appearance - golden with a haze and a thin head. Nose - soapy, boozy, light coconut note. Taste - more booze and coconut notes. Palate - medium to full bodied with a tangy texture and a sweet unbalanced finish. Overall - ah, it makes sense that this was in a Bourbon barrel as we were getting coconut. Not very balanced as the barrels seems to easily dominate the original beer.
