It was amazing having Doug from Odell Brewing Co Odell Brewing with us last week! Together, we recreated a batch of Odell’s flagship Amber Ale, 90 Shilling, on the Thornbridge Union system. First brewed in 1989, this iconic beer has been a cornerstone of the US craft beer scene ever since.
Bottled 90 Shilling has a higher ABV of 6.3% than the Cask version which has an ABV of 5.3

Bottle version from the monthly beer club. Purports to be 6.3%. Pours clear mahogany with a thin off-white head. Aromas of toffee, red fruit and spice. Taste adds something herbal and leathery. Light sweet finish.

Cask at St Albans beer & cider festival 2024, St Albans, Herts. An amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Fruity, malty, caramel taste and aroma. Decent enough but quite thin.

Cask. Thornbridge Tap. Light haze on a deep copper red. Super tight creamy off white foam. Lightly nutty lightly vinous malts with a soft fruity spicy hoppage. Some yeasty bread. Has a Union brew kit vibe. Taste is semi sweet with some nutty grainy character. Light to moderate hop bitterness. Super smooth and very easy drinking. Moderately bitter finish. Sank two pints double quick. Could envisage an easy but messy gallon.
