Conflux is Unity’s interpretation of the modern American pale ale, a juicy and citrusy beer with a soft presentation. They add hops right at the end of the process – a blend of German Hallertau Blanc and Ekuanot from the US – keeping bitterness low while infusing as much flavour and aroma as possible.

Cloudy deep golden color with a big frothy white head. Good lacing. Fine intensity in the aroma. Good hop profile. Medium body and a fine carbonation level. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Easy to drink. Semi dry and a lasting tail. Fruity, grapefruit hoppy and pine in the flavor. Nice refreshing ale.

440ml can. Murky pale orange colour with a white head. Aroma is citric, slightly underripe, light bready malt, grapefruit. Taste is mildly yeasty, underripe citrus fruits, light bready malt, slightly chalky. Light body, average carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Opens with a lasting hiss, but it doesn’t gush. It is massively over-carbonated, though, and it’s about 20 minutes before I can get a proper pour done. After that, the beer has a pleasant, restrained aroma, some dry pale bread, sourdough, semi-ripe citrus, melon and tangerine. Light to medium sweet flavour, with more sourdough bread, some straw, lemon, a little pith. Light bodied with lively, mouth-filling carbonation. Finishes with a bit of bready sweetness, more citrus fruits, a mild juicy aspect, some biscuits. Aside from the carbonation issue, it’s a nice beer.

Keg at the hop locker 1. A pale golden coloured pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is nice Hoppy, spicy pineapple peach, semi sweet bready malts. Flavour is composed dry dusty grains, mellow citrus, tropical, Watermelon. Palate is medium light, moderate carbonation. Rounded. Decent drop.
