Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 05/03/24. Lighter shade of black with a good sized lasting khaki head. Nose is dried fruit rinds, raisins, light charr, cocoa powder, mellow roast, light ashen tones. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, hint of vanilla, light roast, charr, cocoa dusting, brown sugar sprinkle, light dried fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a mellow spike of alcohol. Passable impy stout ... a sipper ... not terrible but a touch disjointed and struggling to get out of third gear.

Can. Almost clear but very dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Softish and airy dark malts, a decent malty creamy sweetness. Vanilla coming to the fore in the mid along with some estery ripe fruits. Finishes airy and semi dry and leaves a long malty chocolate linger. It's fine but Phantom's dark beers have a very long way to get up to the standard of their hoppy beers. Well, that's based on my sample of 2 this evening. Both perfectly competent beers, both falling a little flat.

On tap at Phantom Brewing Co Taproom, Reading, Berks. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, chocolate, caramel, vanilla taste and aroma. Really drinkable sweet stout.
