Hops are the flowers or cones of the hop plant. They are the reason your beer is bitter, citrusy, piney or fruity. Hops are grown around the world and different strains of hops have vastly varying characteristics.

This series of single-hop beers aims to showcase the unique character of some of our favourite hop varieties. The fourth instalment of this series showcases Sabro.

Sabro hops are packed full of complex and interesting flavours. With distinct notes of coconut, passionfruit and grapefruit which combine together to create a challenging, yet well-rounded flavour.

Can from Asda Dyce. It pours rathe hazy pale yellow - gold with a decent fluffy white cap. The aroma is fresh and clean, has some nice tropical sabro to it, pineapple chunks, fruit jelly, light coconut, papaya, green vibes and floury bread. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, touch green, weedy, waxy citrus peel, mellow tropical vibes, pineapple chunks, green coconut, herbal almost and floury bread with a drying finish. Light - average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Easy going.

Can from ASDA Supermarket, Manchester. Hazy golden with a smallish head. Citrus and pine combine in both aroma and taste, with its strength fairly evident but not a dominant factor as it's quite fresh tasting at the same time.
