Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of deep rich chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes with some residual sugar notes and perfumy notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate notes with Bourbon notes with a sweet finish and notes of vanilla. Body is below average with good carbonation. Too thin for the style and perfume notes are not enjoyable.

Poured from the tap. Black with small tan head. Light bourbon, hint of sourness and wood glue, touch of licorice. Needs improvement. The wood glue becomes stronger as it warms… lowered my rating.

16oz from HighPoint LRS @ home. Appearance: dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: tons of bourbon, feels thick, somewhat glue-ish, but that's coming from the barrel most probably. Taste: along the same lines, a lot of bourbon, slightly sour, fruity, quite sweet, a bit boozy. Overall: it's pretty good, but for this price I would easily prefer both KTCYFA versions, that were higher quality and 1/3 cheaper.

Bottle pour at Weathered, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of nail polish remover and perfumey upfront - with subdued barrels, ugh. Flavour is a little better, with vanilla, bourbon, and perfume. Seems a little off-base. Too perfumey. Needs work.

Dark brown with just a thin head. On the nose this is just full of esters, some bubblegum phenols...that barrel treatment seems to be a negative here. On the palate it’s chocolatey but again the barrel is heavy handed...a booze bomb with a thwack of phenols. This treatment simply did not work.

No excessive carbonation (see further down). Dark chocolate, salty; moderately sweet with a big spirit punch, and quite big bourbon too; it's just a few months old, but it seems to be developing something weird, like a bitter orange kind of sourness, red wine, Brett is not excluded here.

The aroma is mild, there is also a very light hint of smoke and fruit, tobacco. The mouthfeel is silky, sweet, lip smaking; cocoa, burnt sugar, touch of vanilla (is this the barrel?); there is a light feeling of liquorice root; the alcohol is well hidden.
Excellent.
2020-10-31, can from high point, Vancouver, 8-4-8-4-17=41
Robust and sweet without being sticky; it's a very unusual Imperial Stout, there is a bold chocolate beer, with notes of almonds, stewed apples, rye bread; the bourbon is powerful, vibrant, a lot of vanilla, and also of spirit; a touch of liquorice.
Excellent, bold.
2019-09-21, draught at the brewery, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Black colour, small brown head. I love the mouthfeel, it's sweet but not sticky, good body and yet velvety; good chocolate flavour, malt depth; the bourbon character is quite strong but unusual, rather than vanilla it gives notes of apple, macadamia, marzipan; light fruity note, pleasant.
Well, overall it's very good. I could drink a lot of this.
