Hoppy Gonzales is a hoppy American ale with bucket loads of fresh jalapeños added at three stages during the brewing process. Some in the mash, at the end of the boil and then roasted jalapeños were added to the fermenter along with the dry hop. It pours a deep copper to amber in colour with bright aromas of fresh peppers and herbal, citrussy US hops. The flavour is slightly malty, with a subtle bitterness and not so subtle fresh jalapeño and hops. As you get to the end of your glass you may notice a little warming chilli heat, just enough to entice you back for another!

On Tap at Bitter Phew, Sydney on 13th September 2015. Dark copper with off-white foam and pattern lacing. Spicy aroma with pickled pepper and nutty malt. Rich nutty maltiness and spices leaning on the savoury in-mouth. Fruitiness and nuttiness in finish with a very controlled chilli burst. Fine carbonation and a medium body. Rated as a novelty ale, excellent.
