Cask at Three Judges. It pours near black with a thick off-white head. The nose is toasty, earthy, mild smoke, liquorice and sweet roast. The taste is tangy dark malt & acidity upfront, blackcurrant, jammy fruit compote, spicy, charred wood, burnt action and chewy malt with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Aroma is decent, but it’s tastes infected. Tangy and charry. Not great at all.

Cask at The Land of Liberty in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire on 14 July 2013. Poured a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma or dark chocolate and roasted malt. Disappointingly watery mouth feel. Initial sweet flavours of dark fruit. Palate has some nice burnt malt and coffee bitterness.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Light shade of black - dark mahogony brown in the light with a bubbly tan head. Light roast malt on the nose, a little toffee and hints of liquorice. Taste follows nose pretty much spot on. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation leading to a dry finish.
