Imperial Stout [12%] brewed with landrace coffee sourced from a single, family owned farm in Ethiopia, raw cacao and the caviar from whole Madagascar vanilla beans.

As a little test-kitchen brewing company, we jump at opportunities to explore the idiosyncrasies of landrace cultivars and we’ve been looking for a good reason to brew our inaugural imperial stout.

A special, draft only preview of World Builder will be on display this weekend @snallygasterdc

The coffee was roasted by the fine folks at Sey, who have this to say about the coffee: “This is a super cool single-producer lot from Gedeb. Addisu grows and processes coffee alongside his wife and family. He has been producing sundried naturals for the past five years, but was finally able to build his own wet mill in 2022. In the cup we find berries, nectarine, and coffee blossom.”

Draught at the source: Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is hefty bits of coffee and plenty of cocoa. Taste is sweetish. Dry bitterness. Chocolatey.

Draught @ the brewery. Opaque very dark brown with a small ring of frothy tan head remnant, coffee-cardamom aroma, low carbonation, bitter coffee beans taste, alcohol undertones, smooth body, long bitter finish. Tasty and well balanced with no throat burn despite the high ABV.
