Dark amber/brown colour, cloudy. Smell of chemicals, green apples, marzipan. Full bodied, sweet, very strange combination of hazelnuts and jam; it's dusty, earthy, lightly fruity. Strong alcohol. A bad idea, a not-so-great execution; the base Barley Wine may be ok, the barrel aging takes it South.

12oz (thx, Brian C.!) @ home. Appearance: dark copper with a beige head. Aroma: tons of acidic and sweet red apples, a lot of barrel character with almondy-marzipan notes. Taste: along the same line, quite harsh and boozy. Overall: it is very weird, but it's enjoyable in some way as a sipper.

Can: Poured a murky hazy amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with light retention and some lacing. Aroma of grainy malt notes with some very strong vinous notes. Taste is mix of heavily caramelized grainy notes with some strong vinous notes and some oak notes are also perceptible. Body is full with good carbonation with some warming notes from the alcohol. Not the most drinkable barleywine and vinous notes are not well harmonized with peculiar malt base.

(Can) clear, bright brown colour with a small white head; aroma of wet wood, red wine, prunes, jam; thick palate; rich, balanced flavour with a long, sweet and tart finish
