We were up for the challenge of packing massive flavour into a low-ABV brew. SPARK! is a hop-forward hazy pale ale, brewed with Vienna and oat malt. It fizzes with bright melon and stone fruit flavours. You get all the electric pleasures of a great beer, without the jolt of a high ABV.

Hazy gold with a bubbly white head and a grassy, fruity nose. A little fizzy with grassy malt, a little hop kick, some tropical fruit, citrus bitterness and a dry finish.

Tap@Brixton Brewery, London (29062019) - hazy golden pour with a white head. Light subdued citrus fruity accents probably as served very cold (which is a mixed blessing in this 33c heat) pale malty backing, a little over carbed, light body, light hoppy close. --- Beer merged from original tick of Spark! on 26 Mar 2025 at 07:37 - Score: 6. 330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with average, foamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy, hoppy aroma, hints of lemon, juice, lemon zest, a touch of lime zest. Taste is juicy, citrusy hoppy, notes o flemon, lemon zest, lime zest; minimally chalky finish, minimally watery passages. Very refreshing, easy drinkable, good "presence" for just 2.9% abv.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy, white topping. Nice aroma, with ample peach, tangerine, grapefruit. Light sweet flavour with subtle dankness, dry pale bread, some rindy bitterness, tangerine, more peach, nectarine. Light bodied with lively, massaging carbonation. Somewhat restrained on the finish, though not shocking given the strength; there’s more peach, though, and nips of white grape, tangerine rind. Overall, it drinks nicely.

Bottle at home, 22/07/17. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white head. Nose is citric sherberts, tangerine, toasted grains, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises bitter orange, grassy notes, melon, light mineral chase, toasted bread. Medium body, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with mellow hop bitterness. A touch thin but not a bad drop for the ABV ... refreshing.
