[Bottle from Vintage Roots stall at food market in Reading Broad Street] Pale amber, rapidly diminishing white head. Rather thin and fizzy. Biscuity malt with a dry finish. Clearly a company with no real interest in or ideas about beer has asked a contract brewer for an organic beer within xertain cost parameters. And has got just that and nothing more - it’s a boring brew that’s got no passion about it.

50cl bottle from the National Trust farm shop at Polesden Lacey, Surrey. Amber with a fast fading white head and light carbonation; resinous and caramel aromas; really soft in the mouth with some rich biscuit and subtle caramel flavours and dry resinous bitter finish.

Unpasteurized bottle at a Premier Inn restaurant in Cheltenham. Decent bitter. Sort of a resin evergreen aroma over light caramel. Worth a try. (Note from 10/11/2004)
