(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 23 Nov 2017) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with liquorice, coffee, caramel and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, black rye bread and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced stout.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours dark brown with a frothy, beige head. The aroma has a good bit of rubber, nips of cocoa, lots of licorice. Medium sweet flavour with strong torched wood, some burnt licorice, strongly bitter ash. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes with lots of burnt fruitcake, more ash and licorice. Well, it's interesting, but just not that drinkable. So so overall.

Tried at the nottingham beer festival 2017. The aroma and taste overpowered by the harsh aniseed. Not well balanced
