Our take on a Baltic Porter was fermented with our house lager yeast before spending nearly three months cold-conditioning. Think of it like the lager world's version of an Imperial Stout – with a smooth mouthfeel and aromas of toffee, dried fruits, and toasted marshmallow. Brewed by Eric Dumais, this beer was born from a love of an often-overlooked style.

12 oz. can. Aroma and flavor show me is deep roasted coffee, roasted barley, charred malt. The body is leaning on full and a nice texture. Well executed for style.

Pours a deep, brown-black, with mid-sized, lasting tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, leather. Flavor follows, along with touch of dark fruit and almost some bourbon in there, too. Full, soft mouthfeel. Moderate sweetness with a slightly bitter finish.

Goblet at the brewery pours a dark cola brown, creamy beige head. Nose has burnt malts, some toast, marzipan. Flavor is deeper, toast and licorice, smokey notes, chewy marzipan, BBQ sauce. Basically full bodied and just off dry. 6 4 7 4 13

6 oz. taster pour split two ways at the Portland brewery. It's an opaque black with no discernible sparkle, finger-width beige khaki head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is really nice, strong, roasted malts and chocolate with some dry roasted bitterness there that's bordering on coffee. Taste is strong roasted earthy malts, dark chocolate--almost Baker’s chocolate. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation, and finish as taste leaning toward the roasted bitter side. Overall, good representative of the style with strong flavor and aroma and right mouthfeel.
