Single from Appalachian. Might be old, who cares.
Pint glass at home.
Cinnamon ginger cookie, bittersweet nose.
Flavor is kinda good. Dry gingerbread roast, medium-low spices, heavier on the ginger & clove, which works. Finish is lightweight, dry, with gentle astringency. Can't find any obvious oxidation. Date stamp is September 2024.
Strangely good.

My can says nothing about chai, so WTF? However, it does have the same description and alky content that is listed here, so this must be it? Just asking. BTW, there is no mention of chai on the can, nor in this description, so I'm not sure where this name came from. Not much aroma and it pours like a clear pale lager with a nice big white head that almost goes craggy when it starts to fade. After tasting this, I'm thinking this is a straight up kolsch, forget about the chai. Taste is fairly pleasing, easy going for a Kolsch, especially for a domestic variety. It really has no ill effects, and it comes across rather smooth without any bitter feel to it. Very good level of co2 to boot. Yes, I'm liking this little can of kolsch. In the end it's not as good as Roy Pitz Best Blonde Kolsch (4), Bloom Brew Field of Dreams (3.7), Black Forest Comrade Kolsch (3.5), or even Carolina Brewery Sky Blue Golden Kolsch (3.3), but it is pretty good for a domestic kolsch, THANKS BR!
