Our first release is a Czech dark lager brewed with predominantly Czech ingredients. We begin with a mash of Czech pilsner malt and specialty dark malts from Epiphany Maltsters. We then incrementally hopped with Czech Saaz bringing it to a moderate 32 IBU and fermented with a Czech lager strain from Jasper Yeast.

Metallic nose leads to a very dry, very roasty lager, with mild notes of baking chocolate, pumpernickel, berry, and yeast. Finishes with roast and a modest floral bitterness. Not sure if it’s the brewer or the style, but not a pleasant pint.

16 oz can. Aroma is dark fruit and earthy malt and toffee. Roasted malt, dark fruit, lager yeast, earth for the flavors.. Balance is ok.. Texture is lightly syrupy and ends real earthy.

Pint can, WW. Dark brown, almost black with a small beige head. Nose is brown leaf, roasted malt, hints of smoke, hose. Brown leaf, roast, a hint of a sour something that's a bit off-putting, hose. Meh

Pint can from Beer Run, 7/24/22. Nost is entered as a separate brewery but the beers are under Oozlefinch, so, new brewery? Dark brown, large brown head, good retention. Aroma of roast, tea, dry leaves. Taste is caramel, nuts, roast, a vegetal note. Kinda boring. Okay.

Can pour from Valley Beverage, Sherman Oaks. It’s an opaque dark brown with tons of sparkle, finger width light brown head with good retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong earthy roasted malt with hint of toffee. Taste is strong earthy roasted malt with smoky quality. Mouthfeel is medium side of light to medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and crisp finish as taste with lingering roasted bitterness. Overall, true to the style.
