Dunk Contest is a new name for a beer that was originally called Boomshakalaka. Inspired by one of our favorite video games of the 90s, this 8% DDH Imperial IPA is hopped with Citra, Nelson, Mosaic, Citra Cryo and Mosaic Cryo. This is an absolute slam dunk of a hop combo.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 28 June 2024) Cloudy golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of tropical fruit, peaches, mango and pineapple. Fruity, hoppy taste with tropical fruit, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, peaches, white bread and a balanced citric/grassy bitternes in the finish. Almost full body, with a slight sweetness. Fresh, hoppy and juicy. Very nice.

American pint, 473ml can – Pours a hazy orange colour with a small white head. A fruity aroma, sweet oranges, mango and citrusy hops. A fruity sweet taste, oranges and mango flavours with a slightly astringent peppery spicy hop bitter finish.

Can pour from Fort Point Market. It's a cloudy dark yellow with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width white creamy foam head with good retention and many rings of soapy lacing. Aroma is strong grape and musky herbal. Taste is strong musky herb, milder grape and some citrus astringency. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with soft, thick texture, soft carbonation and dry, yeasty finish as taste. Overall, not as complex as I might have expected given the hops, but strong aroma and flavor with above-average look and feel.

16 oz. can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks Tom. Grass clippings, melon, light citrus. Flavor is the same rendition. Sturdy amount of bitterness. Bolder bitterness than most New England IPAs. But it works.

16 oz can from the brewery, via delivery, 6/13/20. Hazy yellowish-orange color, white head, strong lace. Mango, orange juice, peach, and some melon. Drinks on the sweet side, much less zest and pine than the Heating Up, which I had right before this one. Fairly sweet, with enough bitterness to provide the balance.
