From Beer Drop, best by March 27th, 2024.

It pours not quite black (very dark brown) with a finger of off white foam, good lacing.

The smell is chocolate, roasted malt, some hints of lactose, toffee.

The taste is good notes of semi sweet chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, fudge like flavour when I swish the beer in my mouth. Maybe a hint of lactose.

Rather nice thickish mouthfeel for a 6.5%abv brew, which I dig. I like it.

Dåse fra Getrankefeinkost, Magdeburg. Sort med et lille beige skum. Dufter af chokolade og kaffe. Smager af kaffe og lidt for tynd til mig.

$3.14 pint can, TWSP. Dark brown, not quite black, with a small tightly-knit brown head. Chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt nose. Chocolate - somewhat candied, roasted/lightly burnt malt, coffee beans. A bit too artificial in the front and a bit too burnt in the back.

Can from Londonderry Quick Stop Dark brown in color faint light at the edges and a frothy tan head that recedes rather quickly. Hershey's syrup with light caramel and roast with a touch of fruit and earth. Not bad.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from trade with johnnnniee--thanks, John! Appearance is hazy dark brown (burgundy with light source directly behind) with areas of decent sparkle at the edges of the glass, 1/2-finger with beige head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is earthy toasted malts, bordering on burnt, with hints of chocolate. Taste is dominant earth over slightly smoky roasted malt with virtually no chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick, frothy texture, soft carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, a disappointing lack of chocolate for a chocolate stout and the dry, earthy qualities similar to European stouts is not my favorite. Skippable.

Didn’t bother looking at the can date. Aroma is very weak chocolate and mild smoke. Body is thinner, leans on watery. Chocolate is weak in a very weak roasted back bone. Average at best. A disappointment.
