If you want oak, you've got it. This Robust Porter was fortified with tart cherries prior to fermentation, lending a moderate tartness and restrained fruit flavor. A 20-month stay in Woodford Double Oak barrels brought a massive American oak tannin profile and a pronounced dry finish. Think chocolate-covered, bourbon-soaked cherries served in a wood shop – in a good way.

Sampled from the tap. Pours near black with an earthy brown head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma has a good amount of cherry with bourbon, light dark grain and a bit of roast. Flavor has a strong tart cherry with roast, oak and light dark grains.

4 oz. sample, EBF, Boston, 2019, Saturday night session. Flavors of dark fruits, plums, cherry is natural and NOT like cough medicine. Back end has mild booze and oak. Nothing overly sweet or syrup like. Pretty good.
