Bottle at parents house finishing off so we prior to thanksgiving. Blackish pour ridiculous big head that goes no where, many pours to get into glass. Nose is charcoal and grass. Tastes grassy, cocoa, charcoal, hint of florals, light fruity tones. Decent beer.

12 oz. can purchased at Greg & Jane’s, Epping, NH. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, earthy hop, bready, and slight coffee. Appearance is dark brown reddish, light brown head.
Taste is roasted malt, slight cocoa, bready, earthy hop, coffee, with a mild bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, nice mildly ashy aftertaste. Overall, reminds me of a Schwarzbier. (Even if the Brewer says this a Pilsner) Regardless, this is the best brew I have sampled from this brewery.

Poured into a pilsener glass, the appearance was mostly dark brown color, some transparency could be seen when held up to the light. Finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated pretty quick. Speckled sticky lace.
The aroma had the German bready yeast up front with some baker’s chocolate, toast and cereal grains. Mild roasty nuts and toast in the background. Crisp grassy hoppy notes. Some earthiness.
The flavor leads with the breadiness, neither straying to the sweet side or the bitter side. Crisp hoppy notes bite in gently, somewhat like an Americanized pilsener. Those hoppy notes and bready/yeastiness slide into the aftertaste and present a quick semi-sticky finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable sort of feel strolling about. Nice carbonation felt good.
Overall, hoppy German pilsener with some side effects of a schwarzbier, now that’s quite creative. I dig this, it’s different but I would have this again.

Pours mahogany tinged deep brown into a Sam glass. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Licorice and soy aromas. Chalky chocolate and licorice Necco wafer front to back.

Pours a black from a bottle. Coffee grinds, pumpernickel, a hint of baker’s chocolate. Molasses sweetness up front then quickly fading to bitterness. Thin and watery, not overly carbonated by any means. Okay beer.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Appearance is very dark brown with no discernible sparkle, small light brown head with poor retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malt, somewhat burnt like a spent match or piece of pizza crust at the bottom of the oven. Taste is as aroma but burnt flavor dominates--like licking an ashtray, particularly right after opening. It mellows a bit as it sits. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with creamy texture, soft carbonation and lightly bitter roasted, burnt finish. Overall, this had potential but someone left the grains in the oven too long. Tweak that, and there might be something here.
