Relic twenty-8 is a our first ever imperial stout, which we only make once a year. Released just in time for the holidays, this complex, slow sipper is a celebration of everything we love about beer.

I have a 16 oz can that was obtained from Half Time back in the summer. Time to open it up and have a sampling. Tulip glass ready and waiting, I make the pour. A mahogany body with a slender top of taupe foam. The nose is chocolate and grain and an anticipation of sweetness. I take a drink and I think it is all right, not overwhelmed by the adjuncts. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, malt, wheat bread, a small amount of roastiness and that is plenty. Somewhat sweet but not too much and a decent bitterness too. Thinner than I like. But a good brew.

A fairly light palate in this stout. Mild toast and some sugar. Very drinkable

Can shared by Jeff, thanks! Pours a clear dark brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has light dark grains and a good amount of roasted malts and a hint of smoke underlying. Flavor has lots of roast and light smoke with a bit of chocolate and dark grains backing.

2,400th rating! Pours a thick oily near black from a can. Big toasty caramel aroma, toffee, roasted nuts and coconut. Flavor is similar although not as much coconut by far. Pretty good beer.

Can. Black beer with a tan head. Caramel and toffee aroma with light vanilla. Toffee and caramel flavor with spice and toasted nut. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee and toasted nuts linger with caramel, spice, and light molasses.

Sampled @ Extreme Beer Fest, 4 Feb, 17. Color is pitch black, weak thin tan ring of head. Aroma is weak roasted malt, molasses, maybe coconut.
Flavor is mostly the same as the aroma. Mostly caramel with a weak roasted backbone. Body weak side of full with a dry texture. A tad thin. Sweet finish with the ABV totally hidden. I can find the coconut but I canβt find berry in here. I am guessing the brewery was hoping for a better result from the amount of time they spent brewing this.
