This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a burnt orange to hazy red color with a one finger quickly dissipating head, basically just fizzled out.
The smell definitely has the chai spice up front with sweet honey and rye coming in underneath. Tripel qualities of sweet apple, subtle clove and a gentle sweet banana roll in underneath for the balance.
The taste takes in the previously mentioned flavors to balance sweetly with a front of the tongue hitting spicy harshness (I don’t mind it, but that sure is different than what I’m used to).
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with the harshness from the spices taking over. Bitterness seems pretty low. Alcohol warmth is there but controlled.
Overall, as a tripel, I’d say this works. Nice job to Four Quarters for taking a loved style and doing something a bit different, I’d have again.

500 ml bottle purchased from the brewery, shared by Eric S. Bottle dated 7/15/15. Mostly clear golden orange color with some lasting head retention. Aroma is agreeable: light spice with a subtle rum character.
The base has a sturdy amount of honey and light notes of yeast. The chai spice is subtle and marries with the rum barrel pretty nicely. Overall it is on the sweet side but drinkable and enjoyable.
