From tap. Pours hazy dark brown with a small, creamy and tan head. Aroma is roasted malty. Breadish and dark malty. Roasted, dsrk malty. Overripe fruity. Phenolic, toasted malty. Bitter and dry phenolic finish.

Northeast Bucket List Trip Beer #78. Keg at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, maple. The taste is caramel, toffee, dark fruit, roast, chocolate and a tart finish. Medium bodied, lingering fruit.

Tap at the brewpub during my honeymoon, July 5, 2014. Brown of course. Sweet, some raisin. I don’t pick up the maple. I thought this was as decent example of a dubbel.

Had at the source. Dark red / brown color in very poor lighting. Thin ring of head. Nose is light sugar, perhaps the maple syrup, dark fruit (mostly plum).
The flavor is nice and a mirror image of the nose. The maple syrup comes through in the flavor nicely and melds well with the dark fruit and cocoa notes. Body is medium with a sweet finish. Nicely made and worth a try.
