On tap today at the source. Tawny brown liquid with a nice sized fluffy off white head arrives at my table in a tulip. Aromas of caramel and brown sugar with hints of dark fruits and enough smoke to make you notice it. The flavor is sweet and brown sugary with light fruits and enough bacon and ham to provide some balance. Little to no hop flavor or aroma. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a somewhat sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Nice big sweet smokey scotch ale that hides its size quite well while providing a nice flavorful drinking experience.

Draft at Martha’s. Tulip has a dark ruby color with spotty lace in the snifter. Nose is a pleasant with smoky malt, toffee and tobacco. Flavor is unbelievably smooth. Smoky wood, rich English toffee and a yeast feel in the finish. Malt has a layered depth to it. Secondary flavor of peat. Savory Scotch ale. The 8.4 ABV is totally hidden. Incredibly easy to drink which can be dangerous with this percentage! Nicely done.
