Poured into an English pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark hazy burnt orange close to brown/reddish color. Thin white film of a head that dissipated immediately. No lacing.
The aroma has some toffee to subtle peaty malts. Some roast and toast flow in underneath.
The flavor was basically the same. Malty rich aftertaste. Quick finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Mild carbonation, nice and low. Pretty smooth beer.
Overall, pretty good Scottish ale that I could have again.

6 oz. pour @ the brew pub. Pours a deep amber, lasting thin head and light lace. The flavor has notes of toffee and caramel up front with light sweetness followed by leather, peat, light smoke. Finish is lightly sweet and malty. Yet something id slightly off with it. I think the carbonation was right on the draught line. It has a flat old taste to it. And I hate to type it but the body was thin. Again no major problems with this brew but needs some fine tuning.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear deep amber brown with a gray head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of sweet grain and bread with a hint of earthy stone fruits. Flavor was similar with sweet grains, bread and a bit of caramel throughout with hints of earthy red fruits in the finish.

A nice red copper ale with a thin white head. In aroma, nice butterscotch with vinous notes, and nice alcohol warmth. In mouth, a nice light and sweet scotch ale, with a bit of butterscotch, a bit underwhelming and thin. On tap at brewpub, Jan 11, 2010.
