Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival. Appearance is cloudy dark brown, with finger-width beige head with good retention, lacing. Aroma is vaguely sweet, caramel, nuts. Taste is surprisingly fruity (grape?), and bready more than caramel; nuts. A little odd for a nut brown. Palate is medium bodied with watery texture, flat-to-soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a pretty "unique" (or odd, depending on your perspective) fruit quality but otherwise the usual suspects are here. Fairly average.

Treated as an American strong ale due to ABV, this was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a rustic burnt orange to brown color with a deep haze around the body and a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Slim lacing running all around the glass.
The aroma had some brown sugar, nutty malts and toffee blending decently with some light expected booziness to it.
The flavor leans to the sweet side with the previously mentioned aromas blending nicely. Sweet boozy nuts in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sipping quality to it. Carbonation feels good for the style and shapes a fair stickiness about it.
Overall, good as an American strong ale, but not as a brown ale. Still, I would come back to.

22 oz. bottle from the brewery. Color is deep brown with quickly falling, tan head. Light lace. Nose is nuts, adjunct malt and some sort of yeast. Perhaps lager yeast? But a aroma I can’t quite place. A lot of nutty flavor is present throughout the sip. Medium in body. Good moderate carbonation. ABV is only slightly noticeable in the finish. An easy drinking Brown Ale but what I’m a bit upset about is the price. I paid $8.99 at the brewery, guess I’m the sucker one this one.

Pours a slightly hazy medium brown with a reddish orange tinge and a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is very malty with lots of caramel, chocolate, brown sugar and a hint of coffee. A slight bit of earthy hops provide a bit of balance, but this one is mostly malt. Taste of caramel and brown sugar with a hint of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. There a tinge of earth and a hint of ethanol, but this one comes off a bit on the sweet side. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost sugary mouthfeel. Flavorful beer, but like I said its a bit sweet. It needs more hops, or more bubbles, or more attenuation to be a great beer. On a side note, this beer and the other beers sold under this label can’t be more than 6.5% abv. There is no reason for them to be priced at 9 dollars a bottle when bought from the source.
