Milly's Oatmeal Stout

Pours a black colour with no visible highlights. The mocha-coloured head is nice, decent lasting, leaving patchy creamy lacing. The nose is full of dark fruits over the roasted malt base, so smelling this reminds me more of a porter. The taste has the same and hard to feel the oatmeal sweetness and smoothness. Maybe in the mouthfeel, some silkiness. Hints of smokiness and caramel do come out in the aromas after a while. A very decent dark fruity beer.

Keg pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Aroma is rich chocolatey/cocoa with some smoke that is a little bit off (as a kid, I burned some bird droppings with a magnifying glass and it smells a little like that). Appearance is nice dark pour with effervescence reminiscent of a nitro, beige finger-width head and nice lacing. Taste is much like aroma--dominant chocolate/cocoa with that smoky flavor. Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average carbonation. Overall, much to like here but the slightly off smokiness is enough off putting that I would choose other oatmeal stouts ahead of it for sure.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about forty five seconds leaving some light clingy stringy lacing.
The smell started off with a nice sweet to roasty coffee. Eventually, as it warmed, there was a nice sweet milk chocolate and a touch of bitter dark chocolate.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and blended nicely. The aftertaste was really nice as it combined all the previously mentioned flavors in a sticky fashion. A moderately quick sweet finish clings nicely.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs smooth and lets in a nice graininess from the oatmeal.
Overall, sweet stout or oatmeal stout. Whatever it is, I’d have again.

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Chocolate and espresso aromas. Thick and dry with sweet hot chocolate upfront turning to licorice before the lasting espresso finish.

Can from Bert’s Chocolate caramel coffee and molasses with bits of sulfur or mineral water. Decent brew.

On tap.Poured a dark black. Sizable foamy head, long lasting with lacing on the glass. Smooth, sweet, malty and nutty with a touch of hops. Slight hint of chocolate and coffee. A hefty, rich and dense brew. This was a good stout but I liked the John Stark porter better.

on tap-pours a thick tan head with black particles. Color is black. Aroma is malt. Taste is coffee, bitter. Not my style, but enjoyable. rerate 2.9
