(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20190528) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, vanilla and dark chocolate. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, woody and bitter. A decent burnt brew with woody notes.

Keg at 71. It pours opauqe jet black with a medium tan head. The aroma is chocolate gateaux, cacao, cookie dough, dark fruits, fruit cake, glacé cherry, raisins and varnish. The taste is pretty dry, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, charred, burnt toast, fruit cake, boozy heat, peppery spice, earth, charcoal and burnt toast with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Body is a bit lighter than expected. Not bad, but lacks a bit of wow factor.
