Thanks Virby44 for the bottle! Taster showing oily black with no head.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of molasses and bourbon.

The palate is lightly carbonated and full bodied, oily and slick. Moderately sweet with balanced notes of chocolate, bourbon, raisins and a moderate alcoholic burn.

LCI. Thanks Fung Bog boy, lots of barrel, bringing oak and vanilla, big chocolate covered toffee bar, studded with dried candied fruits, doused in caramel. Thick sweet, moreish.

750mL bottle at the Cellar, 1/16/25.
Clear, dark. No head.
Smells like MJK cut with BBT. Elegant bourbon, lots of vanilla, juicy plum and spicy bourbon. Fruity with soft port and rich bourbon lingering. No alcohol.
Juicy, soft, sweet. Now I'm thinking its MJK cut with Deca. That's what it tastes like. Soft port. Sweet, rich, lots of vanilla. Juicy. Maybe a hint too sweet yet. Odd bc I don't think Deca is too sweet. Still interesting. Will check in again in a few years.

Sweet, boozy, smooth. Caramel, bourbon, raisin, toffee, rich and smooth, nicely balanced, fantastic.

At the Cellar: Intense malty notes, some caramel, dried fruits, toffee, stingy barrel, raisins and chocolate. Pretty tasty. A month later: Still great. Quite complex and loads of different flavors, malts, caramel, raisins, prunes, toffee, syrup, barrel, chocolate, vanilla, oak, bourbon and sweetness. Awesome slow sipper. A bit stingy, so some aging would probably make this even better. --- Beer merged from original tick of The Cellar Tenth Anniversary Barleywine (2024) on 05 Nov 2024 at 17:17 - Score: 9.
