Mexicana IPA in a twist off bottle. Hoping for a smoother mexican style lager approach, but its not. Darker colored like a hazy barley wine. Taste is big dull IPA slap in the face. Smell is same. Bitter and astringent, pretty much like most ubiquitous IPA, terribly on style leaning towards American strong ale in nature. Finish is a long bitter astringent, almost cloying ending. Why has a mouth puckering hop preservative become a desired taste? A mouth coating medicinal & rude strong ale.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($2.50): pours reddish with an off-white head. Aroma is mostly pine and caramel; I am really not getting too much agave out of this. Taste is fairly bitter; goes into the finish and aftertaste. Very minimal sweetness. Not too complex. My least favorite of this brewery’s beers so far.

A golden reddish amber ipa with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with smooth floral hops, light maple, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with good floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light tropical fruits, very nice and surprising. Bottle at Crisanta.
